Chulalongkorn Day in Thailand

Chulalongkorn Day is also known as Piyamaharaj Day in Thailand, and October 23 each year in memory of one of Thailand 's most respected kings, King Chulalongkorn. Chulalongkorn established his throne after the death of his father, King Mongkut at the tender age of 15 years. During his reign, took important decisions for the development of Thailand. The most important among them was the abolition of slavery in Thailand. He played a key role inModernize Thailand. He has traveled around the world and had good relations with powerful countries of the world such as Britain, Russia, France. As part of modernization, the king built railways, postal services.

During the reign of King Chulalongkorn, there was no communication system and there was no suitable transport. Horse, ox carts and elephants were the only means of transport. He played an important role in the foundation of communication and improveTransportation Systems. During his travels abroad, he spent time learning about Western communication and transportation systems, and on his return to Thailand, he set about translating them into his country. He reformed the rules of law, was introduced in a proper judicial system and military service, and improved system of national defense. He also encouraged ordinary citizens in Thailand, to send their children abroad for higher studies.

The reign of King Chulalongkorn42 years and during his reign, Thailand turns into a traditional small kingdom into a modern nation. King was considered the only success in the world.
